Emptied Vessel

On 10th November 2014, the world woke up to the sad news that author Dr. Myles Munroe who was in Kenya barely two weeks before has been killed in a plane crash in Bahamas . Dr. Munroe was on his way to a global leadership forum which he had organized.

Condolences to the entire family and friends of the late author.

His life and works speak for themselves; an author, motivational speaker, preacher, publisher etc. In many ways, Dr. Munroe has touched  lives and left them transformed.  Honestly speaking, I've never read any of his books but the last interview he had when he was in Kenya on the JKL show on KTN hosted by Jeff Koinange challenged me much. Something he said struck me and since the interview, its the one thing that has kept ringing in my mind.

"I want to challenge every Kenyan to go to the cemetery and disappoint the the graveyard. Die like the Apostle Paul who said I have finished my course, I have kept the faith and  I have been poured out like a drink offering. There is nothing left. I am ready to die. That's how I wanna die. There is nothing else for me left to die."......."When you die, die like I am planning to die. Empty. It's finished."

Say what you may, but this great man of God had finished his work on earth. To boldly declare that you are ready to die is not an easy fete. Getting to that point where you let yourself be used by God till there is nothing left is something that I desire. Only when and if you discover your purpose in life can you pour out yourself to emptiness. When you discover that one thing that God placed you on earth to do, you live for it and strive to accomplish it. Dr. Munroe believed that the greatest tragedy in life is not death but a life without a purpose. It is my prayer that we may all find our purpose on earth. Purpose drives you, it motivates you and gives you a reason to keep going even when things seem tough. Glad that I am in the process of discovering my purpose....well 90% there and I am striving to accomplish what God placed me on earth to do.

I am looking forward to the day that I can boldly and confidently say like Dr. Munroe, "There is nothing left in me, I have been completely poured out and emptied." Till then, I chase after my purpose celebrating the life of this man of God who pushed me to not only discover my purpose but to pursue it.
