Do you know JESUS?
As I was meditating on what to share on the first Weekly Devotion, I felt I needed to start from the very basics- SALVATION. This is what our relationship with Christ is anchored on. It's not as complicated as it has unfortunately been made to look. At times I listen to people talking about salvation and all the do's/don't's and the rules involved and I'm saddened cause it has been made to look unachievable yet it's simply a relationship with God that you work on daily. Good News is - it's achievable, doable and most of all it is enjoyable. God created us to enjoy fellowship with Him not to follow some rules and regulations which mostly, have no biblical basis.
I was having a conversation with a friend - who was out in the Mission's field over the weekend - talking about how the evangelism experience was and the souls that gave their lives to Christ and we found ourselves reminiscing about our own journeys to salvation. I gave my life to Christ about a decade ago and the journey has been interesting. Have I been consistent in my walk with God over the last ten years? Well, almost. I've had my moments of doubt and questions and a steep growth curve over the last three years or so. I've had to wean myself off spiritual milk and embrace solid food. Thing I love about salvation and my relationship with Christ is there is still so much growth to be achieved. Much like shifting goal posts - you achieve a level and feel like, that's it. I can now just chill and YOLO but lo and behold, you discover there is a higher level you need to pursue & God nudging you to a deeper level in Him.
There is only one way to salvation - BELIEF & CONFESSION.
Romans 10:9 "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved".
When Adam fell and was kicked out of the garden of Eden, there was only one way for God to restore us to Himself - by sacrificing His only Son so that we could be saved and enjoy fellowship with Him once more.
John 3:16-17 "For God so loved the word that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but hat the world through Him might be saved.
God loves you and desires to have a close relationship with you. I'd like to invite you to take a step of faith and create that relationship. If you do not know Christ as your personal savior or may you once said the salvation prayer but for some reason you backslid, I would want to lead you in the salvation prayer.
Dear Lord, I humbly come before you, recognizing that I am a sinner and there is nothing I can do to save myself. I confess that I have lived in sin. thank you for sending your Son Jesus Christ to come and die on the cross for my sins. I surrender my life to you. I ask for forgiveness, take control of my life and help me to live in a way that pleases you. I receive you as my Lord and savior. In Jesus Name. Amen.
If you have said that prayer, welcome to the family. Do find a bible believing and teaching church that you can connect to and grow your walk with God.
God loves you.
