October

Happy New Month ☺☺☺☺. Is October yoh!!! 85 days to Christmas - Yes I have officially started counting down to Christmas. I'm excited to see how the festivities will turn out this year more so due to the disruptions caused by Covid 19. Nevertheless, Christ still remains the reason for the season regardless of whether we will be able to gather with our families for the usual feasts & merry making.  As we count down to winding down 2020, a couple of random things on my mind that I'd love to share.

#WeeklyDevotion - Christ Like Character

Happy New Month.                  Welcome to September 2020. Please, do me a favor. Stop whatever it is you are doing, stretch your right hand over your shoulder and pat yourself on the back☺☺☺. Done? Let out a loud shabach, jump up and down and dance as hard as you can. See, you've made it through 8 months of 2020. No matter how crazy it has been, the Lord has sure kept you and here you are heading into the last quarter of 2020.  Isn't God amazing??  Now that I have pleasantries outta the way, allow me get into this week's devotion -  Christ Like Character . This has been on my mind lately especially now that the church is entering into a very interesting season. If you are sensitive spiritually then you can tell that there is one sound coming out of the church - "Time is running out, we need to depopulate hell & populate heaven". Matthew 9:37 "Then He said to His disciples, 'The harvest is truly plentiful, but the laborer...

New Beginnings

Happy New Month. Welcome to August. Month Number 8 - The Number of New Beginnings.  It's amazing that we have only four months left to the end of 2020 and I'm super stoked that we still have a chance to make something great & awesome out of this year that has seemingly been gloomy and has been cancelled by many - well aside from me. I still haven't cancelled 2020 and I have no plans of cancelling it.  Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose" . I believe with every fiber of my being that this year will still yield that which the Lord had purposed as we crossed over from 2019. Job, in the midst of his trials affirmed this.  Job 42:2 "I know that you can do all things; n purpose of yours can be thwarted" .  As I reflect on New Beginnings, I'm drawn to Isaiah 43:18-19 " Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I wil...

Do Not Worry

Matthew 6:34 "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own". So, it's almost 2 Months since the first case of Covid 19 was reported in Kenya and I must admit that it has been difficult adjusting to the new way of life - Social Distancing, Limited Movement - Staying Home, Wearing Face Masks & a Ban on Social Gatherings which has by far had the most impact - a life with no family/friend get togethers, no church services, no parties et al. The first few weeks after that first announcement were not so bad. I was very optimistic that things will not be as bad and we shall be back to normal soon enough. I was like that Duracell bunny, I just kept going. My energy levels were literally through the roof and I constantly kept encouraging myself and anyone who cared to listen. I was confidently telling everyone to relax and stop worrying cause for sure God has got this thing figured out. Covid 19 definitely ...

#WeeklyDevotion - Salt & Light

Matthew 5:16 "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven".       Growing up, any time I would have a bad/scary dream or a nightmare I would instinctively jump out of bed and flip the switch to put on the lights. I would then take a deep breath - whoosah - and somehow there was such an assurance "relax Karsh, you're safe". I kinda still do that now and it's interesting how I manage to get to the switch in a millisecond even right in the middle of very deep sleep. My mind is assured that once the lights come on, everything's good. As born again believers in a seemingly dark world where there is so much happening that is discouraging, frightening and most of all, the uncertainty that always looms, we are called to shine our lights so bright and give light to all who come into contact with us.  Matthew 5:14-15 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidd...

Weekly Devotion - What's In Your Hand

Exodus 4:2 "Then the Lord said to him, 'what is that in your hand?' 'A staff,' he replied. The Lord said, 'Throw it on the ground. Moses threw it on the ground and it became a snake, and he ran from it".  Today I want to share from a personal journey/experience and it's my prayer that you will be encouraged and more so, you will be stirred up to allow God use you in whatever capacity He has called you in. For quite sometime I've had this deep longing to share about God and more so, the lessons/seasons He has taken me through but for some reason I always felt inadequate/unqualified. I always thought - "who'd even take time to listen to this ordinary girl next door yet there are bigger names out there with huge followings that do the exact same thing she wants to do". I shied away completely & I would time and again get excuses to avoid what God was putting so heavily in my heart to do. Just to avoid the constant back & forth...

Weekly Devotion - First Love

This week's devotion will still keep up with the theme of the Month of Love - A call to return to our First Love . Revelation 2:4-5 "Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lamp stand from its place - unless you repent. Do you remember when you first got born again? How you were so on fire for God. How you would break in God's presence and allow Him to have His way. You did not mind that the sanctuary floor was not so sparkly clean as you lay prostrate before God bonding with Him and telling Him how much you loved Him. You assured Him that He is the best thing that ever happened to you. You didn't care who was around, you just wanted more & more & more of God. You wholeheartedly answered altar calls & were not afraid to have tears stream down your face as you felt God's lovely embrace...

Love In Action

Welcome to February - the Month Of Love and what better way to kick off this Month's Weekly Devotions than with a call to Love - Love In Action. Speaking to the scribes, Jesus taught that the greatest commandment is Love. Matthew 22:36-40 "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said to him, 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind'. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets". A bit of a back story. The Pharisees & Sadducees were considered the Custodians of the Law - they had studied the Laws of Moses & were very strict enforcers of these laws. In their conversation with Jesus, they could not believe that of the various questions they were throwing at Him, Jesus gave responses which silenced them. In an attempt to corner Him, they decided to...

Weekly Devotion - He Who Promised Is Faithful

Hebrews 10:23 "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful". As I always do at the beginning of every New Year, I like to take stock. Mostly I just do an audit of the goals I had written down for the previous year, I go through my Vision Board & tick off things I've accomplished and review those I'm yet to achieve and also compile my gratitude notes for the past year. This year was a bit different though - I found myself going through some promise notes from years back - as far back as 5 years ago. I looked at those promise notes which had what God had whispered during my Closet moments & others that my Spiritual Father had spoken over me. I had mixed emotions reading through them - there was a tinge of sadness mixed with gratitude. With a couple of tears rolling down my face, I whispered a Gratitude Prayer. I was grateful for what God had promised & even more grateful for the strength to keep holdin...

Weekly Devotion - Safe In The Potter's Hands

Welcome to Week 4 of January 2020. I'm doing my  Happy Dance  right about now. Only 11 more days and we say kwaheri to Month One of 2020. I hope you are being intentional about each and every day and being awesome at it. On to this Week's Devotion, which is practically the first in 2020 *Does Happy Dance* {Again} - Safe In The Potter's Hands. For some reason, I keep feeling like I've written about "In The Potter's Hands" before but I can't seem to find that post. Then again, I've lost count of the number of posts that get scripted in my head and never make it to the Blog. I have a teeny weeny feeling, this is one of them LOL!!!! I think it also feels very familiar cause it is one of the major lessons I learnt in 2019 - Karsh,  You Are Safe In God's Hands . Today's main text is from Jeremiah 18:1- 6 "The Word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying; 'Arise and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause you t...

Happy New Year/Decade

Happy New Year & Happy New Decade. I'm excited!!!! It's such a joy to witness the end of one decade and the beginning of another. The excitement is also mostly fueled by the fact that I'm very conscious of what that means. Honestly speaking, when we were transiting from the 2000's to the 2010's, I was such a happy go lucky girl who did not pay much attention to what that meant. Looking back, I believe that things would've been totally different had I been intentional about that transition, but oh well! We live and we learn. That's why I refuse to be casual about the 2010's to 2020's transition. I invite you to also be very intentional especially this first month of the year as it basically sets pace for not only the rest of the year but the rest of the decade. One of the things I'm being very intentional about is speaking life into my Year/Decade. Proverbs 18:21 "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love ...
