#MidYearTings

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Happy New Month :-). We've hit the Mid-Year mark, how awesome is that? *Doing A  Happy King Julian Dance*. This far Jehovah has been faithful.

Just a few more months and we bid 2016 kwaheri. How fast time flies, right!! If you haven't reviewed your New Year's resolutions to see if you are following them through, now would be a good time to do so. Review and make necessary adjustments and try break them into tiny doable chunks. Thing is, I personally do not believe in this hullabaloo of making New Year's resolutions.....I'd rather take one day at a time than waste precious time writing a long list of promises, do's, don'ts and whatever else resolutions entail. I prefer making practical & step by step achievable goals which I can review at the end of the day and make necessary adjustments when need be. So far, so good, I'm loving 2016 and embracing the true YOLO spirit.

How about I do a review of some of the things I have been daily working on and also be honest about the progress just to motivate you to do the same :-).
  • Write More - this one has been a tough nut to crack but guess what....am slowly getting there. Good news about writing is that it's a skill that you can acquire and work towards making it better and more refined. The more you write, the more you realize you have a better interaction with words. The more you write, the better you get. Having grasped this, nowadays I try and write more often - though sometimes I experience a nasty writer's block. 18 posts for 2016, is good progress. *Pats Self On The Back*
  • Get Rid Of Fear - this one also has been a tough one to deal with. I have always courted this crippling fear of failure & fear of uncertainty. In the past, I have let awesome opportunities pass me by just because I was afraid of failing. The worst that can happen when you embrace opportunities is failing but I have learnt that you can always rise up and try again. Dealing with regrets is worse than a few bruises here & there from falling & rising. I constantly meditate on 2nd Timothy 1:7 -"For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control]". As long as I have God in me & with Him on my side, I can conquer fear. {Major Work-In-Progress}.
  • Eat Healthy - I am a sucker for junk food. To make matters worse, I am a comfort eater. You can guess what this does to me....not only do I get an unwelcome visit from Mr. kilos, he also drags along his annoying flabby fat cousin on board LOL. I will not lie to you that I don't junk nowadays; I do. I just do it in moderation. I've dropped a few kilos so I am doing well on this one.
  • Wise Spending - I think at times the universe really conspires against me. Imagine minding my own business while running errands or transiting through the CBD and voila an awesomely hot shoe/dress calls out to me and once it has my attention, it begs in the nicest way possible I take it home with me :D. Every single day is a struggle to shrug off that inviting urge to purchase things I don't need. I have learnt to operate on a needs basis. This checklist works wonders for me - do I need it? How urgently do I need it? If i don't buy it, will it impede daily living? Can I leave it for later? If an item scores a plus 10 on my checklist, I purchase it otherwise, I move on.
  • Love & Forgive More - some people are really difficult to love; not that they are bad people...they just make your life miserable and loving them is such a task. Nevertheless, I strive to practice John 13:34 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” This verse gave me a wake up call.....if I pride myself in being a follower of Christ and I have no love, iko shida hapo!!
These are just a small portion of the things that I have been working on day by day. Some I am making great progress, others are a major struggle but I keep pushing and reviewing to ensure I achieve my goals. As we get to the 2nd half of this year, purpose to push yourself to achieve what you had listed as your resolutions. If you hadn't made any resolutions but realized there are some things that need to be worked on, now is the time to start.
