I woke up very grateful to God for the friends in my life and felt compelled to blog just a little reminder this beautiful morning - when along life's journey you chance upon the gift of friendship, do all you can to cherish it. How true the words of Hubert Humphrey are - "The greatest gift of life is friendship, and I have received it".
For those of us blessed to have sisters, you know how exciting and annoying they can be right :-). You play together, pray together and generally get on each other's nerves but at the end of the day you have a bond that is stronger than all the fights & nasty arguments you may have. You are assured of their support and you can rest easy cause you know come rain, come shine they have your back. For those of us who were blessed with only brothers or are an only child, we get to form bonds with girl-friends and before we know it they become a huge & important part of our lives - more like sisters. Girlfriends are the sisters we choose for ourselves :-).
Once upon a time I used to loathe the idea of bonding with girls. I used to find them too much work {lol}, so I hang out with the boys a lot - they had less drama & were generally fun to be around. Somewhere down the road as I got older & wiser, I realized there are things & moments that make much more sense when shared with girl-friends hence I slowly started changing my attitude towards girls. I must admit, it took a lot of work to change my attitude and so far I've done good but still have much more to do. In the process, I got to meet some amazingly 'crazy' girls and to say the least I treasure them lots *does a back-flip*. Do we fight? Oh Yes! Do we get on each others' nerves? Definitely Yes! Do we drive each other up the wall? Most definitely Yes! Do we at times make each other feel like we wanna pull out our hair? Certainly Yes! Thing is, I wouldn't trade them for anything cause they have made my life richer and waking up each morning knowing that I have some sister-girls that have my back - I am entirely grateful to God. *Cues Imela by Nathaniel Bassey*. P.S Just so you know for the umpteenth time, I love y'all to the moon & back {Si mnajijua *Wink*}
In case you are like me who never saw the need for girl-friends, allow me to give you a couple of reasons why I think it is absolutely necessary and an awesome idea to have them in your life.

In case you are like me who never saw the need for girl-friends, allow me to give you a couple of reasons why I think it is absolutely necessary and an awesome idea to have them in your life.
- God created us as relational beings and it is next to impossible to go through life alone. No woman is an Island and as a young woman going through life, you need girl-friends who will be there for you & hold your hand through the different seasons.
- Girl-friends stand out as the voice of reason in our lives. When we are about to make tough decisions, they can walk us through the pros & cons and help us avoid pitfalls we would otherwise not comprehend.
- Your girl-friends make the best prayer battalion one could ever ask for. They will stand in the gap and hold us up in prayer especially when we are too weak to get on your knees and pray.
- Once in a while, we all need a safe place where we can be silly, goof around and just unwind. Where else would you get this if not from your girl-friends? Crazy road trips & adventurous holidays come to mind when I think of all the silly moments I've had with my sister-girls.
- When you are acting silly, making some irrational decisions and are possibly headed for self destruction, your girl-friends are the STOP sign along that road as they will un-apologetically knock some sense into your head and keep you from self destructing.
