As I was reflecting on this, I remembered a challenge I'd seen a couple of weeks back and wanted to take it but quickly dismissed that thought. Like, Karsh you already have a lot going on so there is no way you are adding anything to your To Do List. But with this conversation, it felt like a confirmation that it was not by chance I felt like jumping on that challenged. Since sharing is caring, I felt that I should get you on board too. It is very simple - Pick someone, can be one person, two or as many as you have the capacity to handle. Then for the entire month of September {Which I have dubbed #butGodSeptember} pray for them.
Catch is, you cannot tell the person you have picked that you are praying for them. I know probably you are wondering, exactly how am I supposed to know what to pray for if I cannot talk to them and ask for their prayer list. Well, it's quite simple; partner with the Holy Spirit.
Romans 8:26-27 "Likewise the Spirit also helps us in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the heart knows what the mind of the spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God".
1 Corinthians 2:11 "For what man knows the things of a man except the Spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God".
Once you have picked your person/persons to pray for, please be faithful in praying for them. Make them an integral part of your closet time - well at least for the month of September. Do so intentionally and pray for them as you would yourself. To help us structure this intercession season & have some semblance of direction, I have curated a Prayer Guide:
*Week One - Thanksgiving {Psalms 100:4-5 "Enter into His gates with thanksgiving. And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him and bless His name. For the Lord is good and His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations".}
*Week Two - Pray for healing {Psalms 147:3 "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds"}
*Week Three - Pray for faith {Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do and He will show you which path to take".}
*Week Four - Declare blessing upon them {The Lord bless and keep you. The Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. The Lord lift His countenance upon you and give you peace"}
I'm looking forward to see what God will do in our lives as we take part in this challenge. Above all, I pray for grace. That you will have the strength to start and finish. Of course leaning on the Holy Spirit - He who began a good work in us will surely complete.
