#WeeklyDevotion - Available & Usable

Available & Usable in the Master's hands. I was listening to a sermon recently and the speaker said something that hit home real good and got me thinking - "It's not enough to be available, you must be usable in God's hands. 2 Timothy 2:20 "But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel of honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.  For a long time - until recently, I've always believed that God can use anyone and anything. Picture this; God created everything and all creation is definitely at His beck and call and He can summon it to pass on His message as and when He wills. The story of Balaam and his donkey in Numbers 22 always comes to mind anytime there is a discussion of God's freedom to use anything to speak to us. I mean if a donkey can be given t...

#WeeklyDevotion - Do You Know Him?

Do you know JESUS? As I was meditating on what to share on the first Weekly Devotion, I felt I needed to start from the very basics- SALVATION. This is what our relationship with Christ is anchored on. It's not as complicated as it has unfortunately been made to look. At times I listen to people talking about salvation and all the do's/don't's and the rules involved and I'm saddened cause it has been made to look unachievable yet it's simply a relationship with God that you work on daily. Good News is - it's achievable, doable and most of all it is enjoyable. God created us to enjoy fellowship with Him not to follow some rules and regulations which mostly, have no biblical basis. I was having a conversation with a friend - who was out in the Mission's field over the weekend - talking about how the evangelism experience was and the souls that gave their lives to Christ and we found ourselves reminiscing about our own journeys to salvation. I gave my ...

#FaithMatters

This week the inter webs have witnessed a lot of debate on Hillsong Worship Leader/Song Writer Marty Sampson's  revelation/confession. On a since deleted Instagram post, Marty admitted that he is losing his faith - "Time for some real talk. I'm genuinely losing my faith, and it doesn't bother me. Like, what bothers me now is nothing. I am so happy now, so at peace with the world. It's crazy". Thing is, Marty is a dope song writer and some of my Hillsong Favorites have actually been written/co-written by him - All I Need Is You, Open Heaven (River Wild), Take All Of Me among many others - so this came as a shocker. There's been a lot that has been said about his confession including how he was not a real christian to start and so I'm not about to jump on that bandwagon. It however made me have an introspection of my own walk of faith hence - #FaithMatters. I will be lying if I tell you that I have not had moments where I questioned my own faith....

#ChroniclesOfAGodGal

I'm a very adventurous gal.... I always jump on an opportunity then figure out stuff later. Many are the times I have started on a journey that I have no idea where it will end. Most times I enjoy the ride and refuse to get off even when I know I will get into trouble but other times the cautious side of me checks in and I jump off. Once upon a time several months ago, I got the crazy idea that I needed to find out if there was more to God/Faith/Salvation - crazy right?  I was your regular Sunday kinda christian. I'd faithfully go to church on Sundays, praise/worship, listen to the sermon and wait for the next Sunday. I however started wondering if there was more. I remember sitting down with a friend and asking her "Is there more to salvation than just being guaranteed eternity?" As in we are encouraged to desire deepeer levels but what happens when you get to that deeper level,  what next? She looked at me puzzled like what do you mean!! You keep pursuing a dee...

Mental Health Matters

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. According to the World Health Organization {WHO} around 450 million people suffer from Mental illness, making mental disorders among the leading causes of ill-health worldwide. The sad part is much as treatment is available, WHO estimates that nearly two thirds of people with a known mental disorder will never seek help from a professional due to the stigma and in extreme cases discrimination associated with mental disorders. Even more unfortunate is that more than 40% of countries have no mental health policy and over 30% have no mental health programme while about 25% have no mental legislation. These statistics paint a very grim picture of the state of mental health wellness but I'm glad the WHO is working extra to sensitize governments on the need to prioritize it. The Mental Health Awareness Month was started in the United States in 1949 by the Mental Health America Organization with the aim  of raising awareness and educating t...

#DownMemoryLane - Mother's Day Edition

Mother's Day was celebrated celebrated on 12th may 2019 and it was awesome to see guys shower their Mummies with love both online & offline. I had my own share of loving on my Mummy too and I thank God so much for her. When counting my blessings, I count her thrice - no actually - to infinity. Growing up, my Dad traveled a lot cause of work so that left Mummy Dearest with most of the hands-on responsibility of raising us. She is a special gem, raising 5 little mischievous and naughty rascals was not an easy fete but she did it with so much ease - mark you, my siblings and I have a gap of about 2 years between us save for our last born who has a gap of about 5 years - so you can imagine. I still wonder how she was able to maintain a level head and stay sane. Anyhuu, I wanna take a trip down memory lane and share some of the things my Mama would trip over and which would earn you a good whooping until you correct, that definitely make sense now that I'm older. Intere...

Podcast Newbie

I love listening to podcasts for my morning inspiration. Good thing with podcasts is you can listen to them on the go and they get you started on the right footing for your day. For a long time I've been toying with the idea of getting into the podcasting space but I've been afraid of how it's going to turn out but this year I've decided "Que Sera Sera". I can't be the one advising people to conquer their fears and go after their dreams yet I'm too afraid to pursue my own. I pray that whatever content I will churn out this year will inspire, encourage and challenge you to be the best version of yourself you can be. I pray that it will also do the same for me and help me break the barriers that I've for so long put up in my mind. Sound Cloud   & Anchor Here's to pursuing our dreams fearlessly & intentionally.

2019

Happy New Year. We're 17 days into the year or better still, 348 days till call it a wrap. I thank God for getting safely to 2019, I do not for one moment take it for granted. My year started beautifully well and as usual I do not take part in resolution making but instead I write down what I want to achieve in the year and break it down to simple every day tasks/goals I can work at. This year, I'm doing it a bit differently though and I'm excited to share - I'm putting together a Vision Board . Yes, I've never done one before so excuse the excitement. I'm having so much fun visualizing exactly what I want to achieve and putting it together. It's not yet complete but so far, so good. One of the main things I'm looking forward to doing this year is travelling - ALOT!!! I love travelling - my favorite destination is anywhere with a beautiful beach. The beach is my peaceful place; the sand in my toes and the sound of the waves give me so many good vibes. ...
