To O.D.A or Not?

I have had this "To O.D.A or Not" conversation quietly chilling in my drafts for the longest time - I think close to a year & a half. Kinda always felt like it was not the right time to publish it but as I was sifting through and clearing out my list of drafts posts, I figured its time to finally put it up.  Let's talk Online Display of Affection. I'm sure you have seen the below meme that has been doing the rounds on Social Media, in case you haven't you are now in the know. Do you agree with it? Also, have listen to the discussion by the wonderful ladies on The Real Daytime show then I can give you my view on whether to O.D.A or not :-).

Moving Spaces

If there is one thing I really dislike - moving!!!!! The hustle involved is just too much - packing, dismantling, boxing, break-proofing - you get the drift right :-). Then again, change is inevitable. I have been toying with the idea of moving spaces - from blogger to my own domain for quite sometime now but as with every other anticipated change, I wasn't so sure I was ready. When the year started, I purposed that I would make the move cause if I keep waiting to be ready I would stall until kingdom come & we don't wanna be doing that do we?" When it feels scary to jump, that's exactly when you jump. Otherwise you end up staying in the same place your whole life." My loyalty to Blogger is however unshaken :P.  As with all moving spaces instances, it's been quite busy trying to set up my new space {with help from an expert of course :-)} that I haven't gotten around to much writing. Hopefully once I settle, I will get back to frequent writing. Fin...

Easter Reflections

Romans 5:8 " But God demonstrates His own love towards us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us ." The Easter weekend is upon us *Drum Rolls Please*. I know most of us {I included} get excited cause of the long weekend. Don't pretend like you don't; after the Christmas & December holidays, it is one of the longest breaks - I mean who wouldn't be excited about two 4 Day weeks back to back. It's ok to celebrate the much deserved break from work/business/school so here goes my happy dance :-).  Easter marks the commemoration for the death & resurrection of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. It is the very foundation and essence of what salvation is. Without Christ's death on the cross there would be no salvation to talk about yet at times, planning that get away; organizing that nyam chom plot or doing spring cleaning {not that it's bad to do all this} leaves us too be busy to pause and just celebrate the gift that Go...

Welcome To Dumpsville :-)

"People come and people go. That's life. Stop holding on to people that have let you go." Getting dumped is usually the last thing on your mind when you get into a new relationship. I'm sure you'd avoid relationships like a plague if only you could get a peak into the future and see that your behind is gonna get dumped; right!! Thing is, life happens and you may find yourself in Dumpsville. At times you may see it coming but most times it catches you off guard. If you see #DumpsvilleAirlines in the horizon, chances are that you will have time to pack your bags and when you touchdown you will be sorted but when you don't see it coming - you are left confused and cannot figure out how/where/when & why it happened. Let's face it though, whether you see it coming or not, Dumpsville is not the best place to reside. Also, just cause you could tell that you are for sure getting dumped doesn't mean it will hurt any less. The emotional roller coaster ...

It Will Get Better :-)

Woke up with this song in my heart - Better by Hezekiah Walker and needless to say it has been on replay. As I listened to this song, I couldn't help but reflect on 2 Corinthians 12:9 -10 "And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness. Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong. "  I'd like to dedicate it to anyone who needs a word of encouragement. Whatever situation you are facing; if you feel like you have come to the end of your rope; if you feel like you have no more strength to keep holding on; if you feel like you want to give up & throw in the towel; if you feel like your night has been too long & you are tired of waiting for the break of day; if you cannot see the light at the...

Live, Laugh, Learn

Over the last two months or so I have been stressing over a situation I got myself into. Yes, it didn't JUST happen as I would want to convince myself. Btw, I have really tried encouraging myself that it was not in my control to determine the outcome but guess what; that's a lie from the devil!!!! Hehehe. It was a result of a series of poor choices I made - with my head high up in the clouds of course lol. You have no idea how much I wished to have a Time-Travel Machine so I could go back in time and make different choices or have Super powers to completely erase what happened. That aside, I've been really hard on myself struggling to wrap my head around the fact that an intelligent, straight thinking Karsh can make such a costly dumb blunder. Spending each waking moment replaying in my mind how 'ish' hit the fan & trying to rationalize my choice of words/actions & wondering who the fish was that??? That birthed a never ending cycle of self pity, self beat ...

Happy International Women's Day

The International Women's Day celebrated on 8th March commemorates the struggle for Women's rights. The United Nations began celebrating International Women's Day in the International Women's Year 1975 and in 1977, the United Nations General Assembly invited member states to proclaim March 8th as the UN Day for Women's Rights and World Peace.  Women the world over have made major strides in fighting for the recognition of Women's rights and they have done such a commendable job. Some of the privileges that women are enjoying right now can be attributed to a few individuals who decided to stand and fight for what they believed in. This post however ain't about to go into the statistics & specifics of the struggle for Women's Rights but rather a celebration of every single woman who continues to defy odds and strive to be the best they can be. Let me just say this for the record, it amazes me when I think of some of the situations/challenges wom...

ForeverKindaLove

The month of love went by so fast, can we please have a rewind?? Or may be I should just wait for 11 more months huh!!!! Anyhuu, to wrap up the #ForeverKindaLove series of posts, just a little reminder - Love should be celebrated all day, everyday. Don't wait for that just one day in a year to shower your mpenzi with love. How about some random thoughts/lessons on matters love that I have picked up along this adventure called life :-). You are on nobody's schedule but your own and you have to relax and allow God to help you figure out exactly what the next step in your relationship is. Stop putting so much pressure on yourself and your partner worrying about the slow/fast progression of your relationship. Some people date for 1 year and feel they are ready to get into marriage whereas others date for 5+ years and still feel they are not ready to get into marriage. Whatever the case, commit everything to God as He is the author of your life and will guide you on exactly wha...

#ForeverKindaLove

Happy Valentines :-). 14th February is finally here!!!! I know not all of us look forward to the day, especially judging by the many memes and puns doing rounds on Social media giving crazy tips to the male species on how to avoid falling for a damsel in distress this Valentines. One that really tickled me was of this Talking Tom with a Nigerian accent  LOOOL :D. For fear of sounding vain, let me just say this - much as I consider myself a hopeless romantic; I DO NOT BELIEVE IN VALENTINES DAY #Boom :-). Thing is, I strongly believe that expressing love and affection to those we hold dear should be an everyday thing. Treasure and treat your loved ones  every other day of the year & if you are able to; throw in a nice surprise every so often. Don't sit around waiting for the 14th February so you can be extravagant & clobber your loved one with mapens. Pray tell though, how can you celebrate love everyday? Does it mean that you need to have a special entry in...

#ForeverKindaLove

Alice Kimanzi has finally released a video for her jam Waambie. Kimanzi explains that she wrote the song for a friend's wedding which is intended to be a celebration of love as experienced from the bride's perspective. I loved this song the moment I heard it at a Wedding earlier this year. It is now among my favorites and it definitely makes it to my "Banjuka Set" on my big day *Wink*. An expression of simple, honest affection from the heart. *Does My Happy Dance* Usingizi kanitoroka moyoni nakesha ngoma, Kwa subira nimengoja penzi hili la thamana, Tangu tulipokutana nafsi zetu kapatana, Na ni mbali tumetoka tangu kuchumbiana, Siku yetu imefika hakuna 'taye zuia, Ajalie Maulana pete tutavishana, Waambie mie nimeshapatikana, Na yule mume wa mapenzi 'sha nienzi, Waambie mie milele nishazama, Sinitafute kule kwa mabinti nishahama, Angalia Ishara {Angalia} Tazama Ishara {Angalia} Angalia Ishara {Ang...

#ForeverKindaLove

Vlogging is fast catching on and has become such an interesting avenue for online users to access great content. When I come across a channel that speaks to me, entertains, inspires & challenges me I always subscribe and follow it religiously. One such channel is  Kaelin and Kyrah . Watching their posts and seeing the love they have for each other at only 19 years of age makes me believe that God is raising a remnant for Himself. A generation of young people who value marriage and want to do whatever it will take to ensure that they relate and love each other and finally settle down in God's ordained way.  These two melt my heart :-). As you watch it, I hope it melts your heart too and restores faith that it is possible to have a #ForeverKindaLove :-).  The poem he uses in the video is by  Brent Rice - Crucifixion Type Of Love.  My biggest prayer is to love her right, I want to love her like Christ loved the church, love her like Our Father in hea...

#ForeverKindaLove

Sooooooooo!!!!! Is anyone feeling this jam right here the way I am???? Hehehe, maybe it's just the hopeless romantic in me that has got me going all giddy listening to this song but King Kaka and Pascal have done an amazing job on this one. What perfect timing for the release seeing as it's the month of love :-) :-) :-). Me nataka niishi na wewe milele,  Me nataka nidensi na wewe milele,  Uwe wangu baby, niwe wako mimi *2, Milele, Milele  Staki ulie, in case ulie nakubembeleza, Wewe wangu hivo ndio Mungu alinitengeneza,  Big up to my mum alinifunza me kupenda, big up, Pia chuki lakini nisitumie tena,  Kama vile bodmas, sijawahi tumia tena

Stand Still

If there is a group of people that fascinate me & I enjoy studying in the Bible, its the Israelites. These guys not only pushed God to extreme limits by their constant grumbling & whining but they were such an ungrateful lot. These chaps pushed God's buttons real good and awakened his wrath - Jeremiah 7:20 "Therefore thus says the Lord God, 'Behold, My anger and My wrath will be poured out on this place, on man and beast, on the trees of the field and the fruit of the ground; and it will burn and [the fire will] not be quenched."  God however had a very soft spot for the Israelites, extending mercy and grace and continually expressed His love towards them - Isaiah 43:4-5 "You are of great worth in my eyes. You are honored and I love you. I will give other men in your place. I will trade other people for your life. Do not fear, for I am with you. I will bring your children from the east and I will gather you from the West. " Completely brings out G...

Neema Yako

Ever come across a song that ministers to you and try as you may, you cannot help but have it on replay the entire day? Well, one such song I have discovered today is Neema Yako by Laura Karwirwa. It is a prayer and a very strong declaration. That God, it is your grace that has kept me. Had it not been for your grace, I would have given up. I recognize Oh Lord that it is not by my own strength that I am where I am in life, not because I am better than anyone or not because I am more learned than others but Yesu ni Neema Yako imeniweka. 1 Corinthians 15:10 "But by the [remarkable] grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not without effect". Enjoy :-). Neema Yako By Laura Karwirwa Mambo mimi nimeyaona na macho haya yangu,  Mambo mimi nimesikia na masikio haya yangu,  Mambo mimi nimeambiwa na rafiki zangu,  Mambo mimi nimehisi moyoni mwangu, Yangenifanya mimi kupotea,  Yangenifanya mimi kushushika,  Yangenifanya min iru...

Quit Worrying

My devotion during QT challenged me much and I felt why not share it and encourage someone who might be going through the same phase. I am a CW - "Certified Worrier"....I unfortunately tend to worry about every little thing, always making sure I plan ahead and try to have everything in place perfectly. Thing with worrying is, since you are always trying to plan and project the future you fail to enjoy the moment. "Worry never robs tomorrow of its sorrow, it only saps today of its joy," Leo F. Buscaglia. You need to make an intentional decision to kick worrying out of your life and instead leave everything in God's hands. My devotion was from Mathew 6:25 - 34. As I was reading through, I couldn't help but feel a heavy load being lifted off my shoulder. You see, for past one week I have been worrying about a certain situation that is unfortunately out of my control, something which no matter how much I want - I cannot control. I have thought about it and ...

Matters Of The Heart - Conflict Resolution

I must admit that I unfortunately neglected "The Loved Up Lounge" section on the blog. With the New Year however comes new resolutions so here is mine - I purpose to post more frequently on matters of the heart, {So help me God}. I know it may seem weird that my first post after the long hiatus on Loved-Up- Lounge would be on conflict resolution right? Well, I believe that if only couples could cultivate a culture of handling their conflicts and resolving them in good time; then we would have less hurting hearts and more happy couples. So let's delve into this :-). You meet Prince Charming, he sweeps you off your feet & before you know what hit you, cupid is overly happy with his perfect aim. You are soon head over heels - you enjoy each other's company, can't wait to spend time together and the endless phone conversations become your daily dose of happy which you patiently look forward to. You are bursting with gratitude to God for bringing "Adam...

We Are Finally Here - 2017

Happy New Year. 2017 here we are. I am super grateful to God for the blessing of a New Year. It is my sincere prayer that we all had a great holiday. In case for one reason or the other yours was not what you expected it to be, it is well..may the peace and the joy of the Lord be your portion as we start off another beautiful year. For some reason, I ushered in 2017 in a very relaxed - bila pressure mode. I'm still trying to figure out why I had a mental block - try as may, I couldn't make plans for the year ahead {weird right!}. What I found myself doing instead was reflecting on how gracious God had been in 2016. My heart was bursting with so much gratitude thinking of how an Awesome God who has a 2-4-7 job of holding the universe together & taking care of billions of requests across the world found time to shower His love on little me and hold my hand through tough situations. This song was on replay in my heart as we ushered in 2017. Grateful, so grateful fo...
